What to Expect : NMAT 2008 Part II

Carrying on from the first part of NMAT 2008 series, In this article I will highlight certain other aspects of the NMAT exam.

Number of candidates taking NMAT
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies is one of the respected B Schools in India. This makes NMAT very popular amongst exam takers. Approximately 35,000 to 40,000 candidates appear for this exam. There were 240 seats available for 2008~2010 session out of which 15% were for management quota. Roughly 2000 students are called for the GD and PI stage and during PI each of the candidate is asked if offered, are they willing to take the management seat.

Who should take this exam?
I think anyone who is not sure of a top 15 college should go for this exam. Maths section is fairly easy and papers format allows the candidate to maximize the score by concentrating on the trend. NMIMS achieves great placement results year after year and that should be reason enough for taking up this exam.

Exam Fees
In 2007 exam fees was 1500 for the written exam and 950 for GD PI stage. In my opinion 950 for GD PI is totally uncalled for, because interviews are conducted in Mumbai and student has to travel to Mumbai for this round. Since, it is the student who is traveling, I doubt if NMIMS has any justification for this sum.

Placement 2008
Placements of class of 2008 saw some amazing numbers. Highest salary of 24L p.a and a median of 10L pa puts this B school in top league. Detailed view of placement report to be published later.

Downloads for NMAT 2008
NMAT changed its pattern last year. So whatever papers you get are surely of no use unless and untill they conform to NMAT pattern post 2007. SNAP and NMAT come very close in terms of pattern, though SNAP is on the tougher side but it can help you prepare.
