CAT 2008 Online resources : Onaptitude.com

As the title suggests, this series will feature on online resources for preparations for CAT 2008, XAT 2009, FMS 2009, JMET 2009 or SNAP 2008. Most of the exams tread similar territory and require same basic level of preparation. However, you got to emphasize more on maths if you are preparing for JMET, English if XAT 2009 is next, but then platform for the takeoff for these exams has to be CAT 2008. If you get through CAT 2008 nothing like it and if you don’t you have these exams for rescue. So, most important component here is, preparation and preparation is as good as resource and your commitment. Commitment, I am assuming, is there and Resource is something I am trying to help you on.
Onaptitude’s best feature
Preparation for these exams has undergone a paradigm shift, from simple pen and paper prep in early 2000’s preparation is now increasingly shifting to online resources. One such resource is Onaptitude.com. Onaptitude is run by Hyderabad based Praxis Group. The website offers online resources for MBA aspirants. Apart from regular online resource, which is offered by other online resources as well, Onaptitude offers an offline help model. You can ask a doubt any time during the day and On aptitude’s expert panel will make sure that your doubts are addressed within a maximum of two hours. That’s cool!! The doubts can range from the chapter you are trying to perfect or general MBA guidance. The doubt section, in my view, is probably the best feature of Onaptitude.
Online Mock tests
They also send you a set of 10 paper based Mock FLT’s. You are free to take the exam at your own will. The website has a section for all these offline FLT’s and once your score is up there, system gave you complete analysis of your performance. Once you know your weaknesses and strengths, you can attack accordingly and with CAT 2008 just a month away, I think this feature becomes extremely important. On the lighter side, detailed graphical analysis of your performance helps you improve your DI skills.
The Content
The content provided by Onaptitude is good. The topic notes are extremely good for revision just before the exam. Specially maths part, you get all the shortcuts, tips and tricks to better your score.
Last 5 years CAT Papers as Mocks
Once you register for Onaptitude, you can take last 5 year CAT papers as Mock test. This again is a nice feature because, not only you get real CAT questions but you also get the solution to it. No matter, how many Mocks you take, nothing beats previous year CAT papers.
How to get it
Fairly simple. You can sign up for a trial account and you get access to two basic chapters. To avail most of the above features you gotta pay up. The package is dirt cheap, considering all that is included. They charge you Rs. 500 for complete access to system till January 2009 and Rs. 2000 if you are targeting CAT 2009. To see live demo click here and if you trust my word, sign up right away by clicking at this link for CAT 2008 and here for CAT 2009.
My Verdict
At Rs 500, with 10 Mock FLT’s and another 10 previous year CAT papers you are talking about Rs. 25 per paper. At this pricing preparation material comes free. Avoid movies like Drona or Kidnap and you save around 250, Saving another 250 is not so difficult. To put it straight, Sign up for onaptitude package because good preparation resource do not come this cheap. I was a user myself last year and never regretted 1000 bucks I paid up.
