SNAP 2008 Analysis and Cutoffs : Exam Taker’s Perspective

Apparently there are some discrepancies in answer keys. Read this post on some tips on how to handle this.

In my last post I asked you, the readers, to send in your impressions of the SNAP 2008 Exam. Here are two of the most interesting reviews. Please keep sending in your review with your bio. And if you have appeared for IBSAT 2008, feel free to send in your reviews for that exam too.

SNAP 2008 threw some surprises.

1) The no. of questions in GK, EU and QA section were reduced to 35 from 40. In these 35, first 5 were of 2 marks each, and remaining 30 were of 1 mark each. So they kept the total mark of each section constant. LR section was as usual.
2) They allowed to take the paper home.

Overall it was a good and balanced paper. LR section was fairly easy and one could have easily attempted 15 out of 30. Eu was also good with more questions on vocab and grammar. Even RC were easy. So one could have attmpted 22-23 in this section.
QA DI was a bit calculative but it gave relief with some direct questions. Some were tricky but overall one could have attempted 20.
GK had few questions whose options were close. Some of them were
1) what is El Nino?
2) What is Bt cotton?
3) a question on Ranbaxy
4) Sariska reserve is for?
5) Who is second largest producer of CD, DVD and optical medias?
6) a question related to sports.

One could have attempted 14 questions in this section.

Its too early to predict any cutoffs at this stage. But as the marks for each section were same, one can think of geting SIBM with 85+ marks.

Snap paper this year was quite easy as compared to last year . Now symboisian also believes in giving surprise. This time instead of 150 only 135 questions were there. Sectional distribution of marks was there but in all it was easy to score 65-70 marks.
This might be the cutoff for SIBM and SCHMRD.
