NMAT 2008 : Analysis and Cutoffs

NMAT 2008 is done as well. Yet another exam Sunday is over and as is the trend, analysis and cut-offs are out. According to Time Education analysis of the exam, a score of 110+ will be an excellent score in NMAT 2008. With the kind of methodology NMAT follows, 100+ is the scoreĀ you should be looking at if you want to convert the call. NMIMS traditionally gives lot of weightage to the written score and the later rounds do not throw up many surprises. Anyways, back to the analysis.
Paper had three sections, Verbal, Quant and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. As, I had said in What to expect : NMAT 2008 series, Anyone who has worked on speed maths or vedic mathematics should have done well in NMAT 2008. Quant section had lot of questions on arithmetic, number series etc. The section was not tough and a score in excess of 24 should be enough to clear the cutoff
Verbal section had fill in the blanks, Jumbled paragraph and Sentence correction questions. The section was not too difficult. Section had 40 questions and any score in excess of 25 should help you in jumping over the barrier.
Logical reasoning and Data Interpretation was again very easy. With 50 questions in all, one could have used this section to cover up the time used up in other two sections. A score in excess of 25 should help you in clearing the cutoffs.
Following table should give you a fair idea of the cutoffs and a good score in NMAT 2008.
| Road to MBA | Time Education | IMS | |
| Verbal Skill | 24 (30+) | 20 (28+) | 25+ |
| Quant | 25(40+) | 26 (40+) | |
| LR and DI | 24(30+) | 22 (32+) | 28+ |
| Overall Cutoff | 85 (100+) | 92 (110+) |
