Having been involved with placements this year, I know how dear day zero slots are to corporate. It was all because of IIM’s that day zero got such importance and such hype. With media reporting every second of day zero, the concept gained more traction and acceptability. But it seems, day zero is going to be history. There were reports in Business Standard and Economic Times claiming that IIM A will be doing away with day zero concept.

Instead of day zero, they will form clusters of companies and those clusters will be given separate dates to interview students. Each cluster will further have functions under it, for example under CPG cluster you will have marketing, finance or operations function to chose from. With one IIM taking this route, it is only a matter of time before other IIM’s and B schools start following.
